A young man is committed to the happiness of his sister and their single mother until he faces a dark secret about the family’s past that is too much for him to handle. Faintly reminiscent of The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy, the story lends itself to be interpreted as an innovative take on the dogma of the original sin.
